Rummaging Through Portfolios

Exploring a Pro's Analogue Photo Archive with Sam Harris

Join international photographer Sam Harris as he takes you through an intimate and tactile look at the process that went into some of his most inspiring work. His collection of contact sheets, concept sketches, work prints and finished portfolio prints, reveals how he captured and edited some of his best shots. Addressing key questions of photographic practice, the workshop will illuminate Sam’s creative methods, strategies, and editing processes behind some of favourite and most iconic images. You’ll discover how he arrived at the final image and uncover the process. This workshop provides a uniquely intimate glimpse into his working process, recording each step on the route to arriving at an image, providing a rare behind-the-scenes sense of being alongside a professional photographer during a shoot and seeing through his eyes. Further insight into each contact sheet will be provided by group conversation, Q&A, anecdotes and case studies. The archive covers approximately a 10-year period during the 90’s and early 00’s when Sam was based in London and working internationally. Case studies will include: o Eagle-Eye Cherry o Beth Orton o John Lydon o Jamiroquai o Jarvis Cocker o Amazonian endangered tribes o The London Underground o Travellers in India"
