Melanie is currently Chief Strategy Officer at Wunderman Thompson in Perth, a company whose purpose is to inspire growth for ambitious brands. Mel has spent over 17 years working as a communications strategist in Melbourne, New York and Perth helping some of the world’s biggest brands clarify their value proposition and effectively identify and communicate with their marketplace.
In Australia, Mel has worked at JWT and The Campaign Palace on Ford, Shell, Yoplait, Quit Victoria, National Foods and the National Heart Foundation. In the USA, she was a Planning Director at Grey New York, working as the Global Strategy Lead for Proctor and Gamble’s fabric care business. She also worked on DIRECTV, UPMC and Diageo.
Mel’s specialist expertise is in organisational transformation, brand strategy, research design and co-creation methodologies to solve business problems. For HBF, P&G, Youth Focus, Bankwest, Synergy, Horizon Power and Water Corporation Mel has participated, facilitated and designed large scale consumer co-creation both on and offline, resulting in rich learning, consumer led solutions and staff and brand engagement.
Mel has three kids, makes a mean cupcake, loves to run and is passionate about women’s inclusion in sport. She has spoken at local and international marketing conferences including Mumbrella 360, ADMA and the International Youth Mental Health Conference. She is a regular contributor to media discussions.
Melanie is a member of the Board of Women’s Health & Family Services, and a member of the Australian Hockey Players Association.
